100 Year Celebration & Time Capule – Volunteers and support needed
Greetings Royal Canadian Legion, Port Coquitlam Branch 133 members!
We are excited to share with you some exciting news! We have received two unique, yet complimentary grants for 2026.
100 Year Celebration- July 25, 2026 from 12:00 -4:00
BC YUKON Command Centenary Gran of $1,750.00.
Veterans Affairs Canada Commemorative Partnership Program Grant of $4,800.00
Branch 133 Legion has been afforded a once in our lifetime opportunity to purchase a Time Capsule to be created by the entire PoCo community to commemorate Veterans and those who have made ultimate sacrifice in service to Canada, and those who have served, past and present!! Time Capsule -Memories we gather in 2026 to be unsealed in the 150th year of the Royal Canadian Legion in 2026. (We will be presenting the time capsule on July 25, 2026 and gathering memories for it and then sealing it on Remembrance Day, November 11, 2026)
How can you and your family get involved and contribute?
Consider items you may have that serves as memory of a relative or family member or friend that can tell their story of their sacrifice for Canada, such as:
- Letters
- Photographs
- Medals
- Memorabilia
- Videos of present day, 2026 PoCo Legion, R.J Kent Resident, Cenotaph,
- Civic Leaders, local business recognition
- And more…
With 911 members and counting in our Branch — there are many ways for you to get involved!
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Canvassing for sponsors & donations (e.g. silent auction, gift baskets)
- Liaising and presenting to with local organizations including School District 43, Port Coquitlam Fire Department and Saint John’s Ambulance for participation., etc.
- Children’s arts, crafts, face painting…
- Games & activities (corn hole, Carnival games, fish pond, clowns, bubbles …
- Shoppers for children’s prizes, chips, decorations, flags, balloons…
- Meat draw shoppers
- Selling tickets (Raffles, 50/50, Meat Draw etc.)
- Operating popcorn machines, etc.
